What we could do together

Our approaches disrupt conventional thinking, recognising that there often isn’t one right answer to the complex problems we face, and that many stakeholders need to be engaged to build solutions and understanding together.

Collaborating for positive change

At Gender at Work, we don’t just deliver projects for our partners—we work closely with our partners, guiding and accompanying you as we shift deep-rooted power dynamics and build truly inclusive cultures.

We can work together over weeks, months or years, in partnership with your own stakeholders or across broader consortia, online or in-person. With 40 associates based in 16 countries around the world, we’re able to work across many contexts, cultures and languages, including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Hindi.

Below, you can learn more about the sorts of projects we can develop and approaches we can apply together.

Do you want to improve your organisation’s culture, making it more inclusive for people of all genders, sexual orientations, races and classes?

Developed over two decades and built on adult learning principles, valuing reflective spaces and recognising that reflection on both the self and on organisational practice is a key tool for learning and effective action, our G.A.L. process is adaptable to across languages, cultures and contexts, enabling people of all backgrounds to work together and to learn from each other.

Do you want to learn more about feminism and collective action?

Since launching in 2021, through our Feminist Schools programme, participants of all ages and experiences have learnt about feminist concepts and developed their understanding of how feminism can help us to not only deconstruct current power structures but also build more equitable futures.

The programme can be adapted to a variety of settings, locations and ages—be that community groups or workplaces, online or in-person, adults or adolescents—and expanded to offer deeper dives on topics such as sexual health and community activism.

Is your organisation going through a restructuring or any other challenging changes?

Our skilled and experienced facilitators can help hold space and moderate those difficult conversations, fostering an environment of empathy and accompanying you and your colleagues through transitions.

Is your project nearing completion or in need of review ahead of its next stage?

Our skilled and experienced evaluators can help you expand your lens of what constitutes data—engaging more stakeholders, applying inclusive storytelling-led approaches, incorporating greater contextual understanding, prioritising accountability—to enhance your understanding of your impact and strengthen your reflexive learning.

Do you want to expand your research horizons?

We have supported large funders, research institutes and think tanks, and individual researchers to identify the blindspots in their research and improve their methodologies, making their work more inclusive and representative of marginalised communities in fields as diverse as international development and artificial intelligence.

We have also devised courses to be delivered at universities, introducing future researchers how to “do gender.”

Do you want to transform your organisation’s leadership style?

Whether as part of a online professional development course within a large institution or an in-person capacity-building workshop with smaller local community groups, we can help you to nurture inclusive leadership to truly transform your organisation from the bottom up and top down.

Our Projects

We have several active, long-running projects with partners on four continents. You can learn more about some of these projects on their individual pages—as well as about our learnings from them in our Reflections.
