Mahlet Hailemariam joined Gender at Work in 2010. As part of the GAL initiative on school related gender-based violence (SRGBV), Mahlet is facilitating and mentoring two teachers unions from Ethiopia and Uganda. She has also facilitated a GAL process focusing on gender-based violence (GBV) involving three local non- governmental organizations from South Sudan. Mahlet has worked on the preparation of community conversation manuals (focusing on gender norms and discriminatory practices), as well as conducting research on gender matters related to agriculture, technology adaptation and higher education institutions with the World Food Program, Royal Tropical Institute (KIT, Netherlands) and CYMMIT.
