Measuring Social Norm Change Through Storytelling – Baseline Report

In Nepal, human development outcomes continue to be hampered by gender, caste, ethnic, social
and geographical inequalities and exclusion. Gender equality and women’s empowerment in turn
are intimately linked to social norms, behaviours, and harmful cultural practices. Addressing and
transforming social norms is essential to build gender equitable societies.

This report is aimed at understanding the pathways and factors that lead to changes in social norms in Nepal by presenting the result of a research initiative undertaken by Gender at Work in collaboration with The Story Kitchen, as part of Hamro Sahakarya (Our Collective Action), an initiative by UN Women Nepal funded by the Government of Finland.
