My story, my voice – Comics from the Hamro Sahakarya initiative

We partnered with The Story Kitchen to undertake research as part of Hamro Sahakarya (Our Collective Action), an initiative by UN Women Nepal funded by the Government of Finland to promote social norms change. Using storytelling as an entry point to inform research, programming and action, the initiative aims to understand pathways and factors that lead to changes in social norms, which in turn can influence transformative shifts towards gender equality and social inclusion.

For the baseline assessment, Gender at Work and TSK worked with community-based peer researchers to gather 1,000 stories from storytellers of all ages and from varied socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in five districts of Nepal.

Illustrated by Nepali artist Ubahang Nembang, these comics present us the worlds of the women and girls who participated in the project as storytellers. Discover their stories here!
